One expectant mother recently gave birth right on the platform of L'Enfant Plaza in Washington D.C.

The 23-year-old female went into labor on a Green Line train. As soon as she stepped off the train, the woman painfully yelled “I'm having my baby!"

The incident happened at a little before 11 in the morning. Thankfully there was an off-duty female EMT on the same rail car and she was more than willing to assist the anticipating mom.

Everything went exceptionally quick. Within minutes of stepping off the train, a healthy baby boy was delivered on the platform. Other passengers also helped during the birth, as one man literally took the shirt off his back for the new mommy while another produced hand sanitizer.

Both the baby and mother are reported to be doing well. They were immediately transported to a local hospital after the birth.

The delivery was first announced by transit police via Twitter. The birthplace is rather significant as the metro’s name, L’Enfant is French, translating to ‘the child’.
