Bolivia's open-jail policy under scrutiny

The case of a 12-year-old girl who says she was repeatedly raped in prison has prompted a heated public debate in Bolivia.

The country allows children to serve jail time with parents who have committed a crime. More than 2,000 children are currently living in this way, sharing cramped cells with other adults.

Al Jazeera's Mariana Sanchez reports from Cochabamba.
