Tired of the expenditures their drunken antics cause, police in Janesville, Wisconsin have composed a list of 10 citizens they’d strongly prefer not be sold alcohol. The ‘no serve’ request has been distributed to area liquor stores and bars.

Landing on the list required being involved at least three incidents that ended up needing police intervention within a six-month period.

Some of the types of encounters that qualify are being arrested, being sent to detox, and having to be driven to a friend’s house because of being too intoxicated to be in public.

Between those occurrences and the frequent need for medical attention, the police say that its area’s biggest alcohol-fueled troublemakers cost the taxpayers significant money every year.

Participation in the “no serve” plan is voluntary, but in the letter sent along with the list it is made clear that failure to comply could have consequences.

In it, a state statute that prohibits the sale of alcohol to known drunkards is mentioned as is a reminder that the penalty for doing so can include the revoking of a liquor license.
