Excitement over the birth of the future British king has reached across the pond.

As the news broke in New York's Time Square, locals and tourists alike welcomed the arrival of a royal baby boy.

"Yes I am. Because I was in London last week so we were expecting this. Everybody was waiting for this. And so I'm happy."

SOUNDBITE: (English) KEN MADDEN, PASSERBY IN TIMES SQUARE, SAYING:

"Absolutely, how can we not be excited. It's like we had our own."

Nearby, it was time to put up the bunting and celebrate in true British style.

With the future king's name yet to be revealed, talk quickly turned to what Prince William and Kate will call their son.

"George. I've got a feeling that it's going to be George. It may not be but that's my feeling. We haven't had a George for a while. And the
