A yard full of forest department timber and other wood and flotsam piles up after the Ganges or Ganga river dumps it post-flood. An old Indian style commode-cistern lies disused and abandoned after the floods, the building it was housed in entirely destroyed. The fury of the flood waters, carrying ammunition in the form of wooden tree trunks and large boulders rushed through this housing complex, leaving behind death, damage and destruction. A poignant reminder comes from the sight of abandoned cooking utensils that were being used to prepare a meal just as the flood hit the occupants of this settlement. A kerosene cooking stove and the lid of a pressure cooker lie abandoned, in mute testimony to the fury of nature that tore through the lives of people living here.
