There have been scuffles between police and protesters in Madrid amid demonstrations over a corruption scandal which has embroiled the Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.

It had started peacefully in front of the ruling People's Party headquarters but degenerated after midnight. Several people including police officers were injured. At least one person was detained.
