At least three people are dead and 17 others wounded after suspected Islamist militants attacked a bus carrying factory workers early Monday morning in Egypt's North Sinai province.
One passenger explained what happened.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) FACTORY WORKER AND PASSENGER ON BUS, HANY AYESH ISMAIL, SAYING:
"We were driving along when suddenly we felt an explosion. By the time we understood what was happening and got off the bus, we saw a military vehicle driving past us but did nothing to help. We started looking for each other and found around two or three dead bodies inside the bus. We then realized that we were hit by a rocket and some of us were injured, some dead, and 10 minutes later the ambulance arrived."
The attack took place in the city of El Arish the centre of a lawless region bordering Israel and the Gaza Strip that's seen a sharp rise in Islamist militant attacks in since Egypt's President Mohamed Mursi was ousted by the military on July 3.
