A 92-year-old farmer in Iraq has become a new husband to a 22-year-old woman. The couple recently wed north of Baghdad.
Weddings generally take place between people of roughly the same age.
But in one recent case, a 92-year-old farmer in Iraq wed a 22-year-old woman.
The couple got married north of Baghdad. The ceremony also included the groom’s two teenage grandkids, who married their own sweethearts on the same day.
The elderly husband stated “I am so happy to get married with my grandsons. I feel like a 20-year-old.”
The wedding comes about three years after the death of the farmer’s first wife. He was married to that woman for 58 years and they raised 16 children together during that time.
The ceremony with his new and much younger wife was quite elaborate. It went on for approximately four hours. Musical performances, dancing and celebratory shots rang out. Tribal and religious leaders were just a few of the noteworthy attendees.
The nuptials of the two grandchildren, aged 16 and 17, were delayed several times while their 92-year-old relative planned his own ceremony. The efforts worked out for the best, as the recent triple wedding resulted in a joyous family affair.
