Performers in Pyongyang, North Korea, rehearsed on Thursday in preparation for the 'Arirang' mass games which mark the 65th anniversary of the founding of the nation and the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean war.

In footage provided by North Korea's state-owned news agency, KCNA, people gathered at a stadium to run through the performances ahead of the annual event. Reuters cannot independently verify the footage.

The Arirang festival is believed to be one of the world's biggest choreographed performances with as many as 100,000 participants.

KCNA said this year's performance would be held at May Day Stadium from July 22.
