The White family of Louisville, Kentucky recently opened their home to a Chinese baby girl with stage 4 cancer.

The decision was in large part a result of their 10-year-old daughter’s desire to help others. According to the parents, she was so moved by the 2010 devastation in Haiti, she pledged her money and promised to earn more to help the family adopt an orphan.

They responded by explaining to her that they weren’t financially able to make that commitment.

The young girl persisted and eventually the family found themselves at an orphan advocacy group. There they discovered that a 1-year-old child in China was in need of a home and medical attention for an aggressive tumor.

Determined to help, the family found a local hospital willing to treat the child for free, and an area church assisted in raising most of the 20 thousand dollar adoption fee.

Granted a medical Visa, the baby girl arrived in May and doctors report that her initial treatments have reduced the tumor significantly and that the prognosis is good.

According to Mrs. White, the credit goes to the children. She said, “We were responding with logic and they were responding with love.”
