Portugal's embattled Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho has vowed to overcome the difficulties which have rocked the country's government. His statement comes 24 hours before he meets with President Anibal Cavaco Silva for crisis talks.

Under the constitution the president can dissolve parliament and act to mediate in a political crisis.
