Thirty-seven year old Richard Norris received a face transplant after a gunshot accident more than a decade ago left him with a horribly disfigured face. The transplant was historic, involving 150 doctors and a 36 hour surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Reuters reports there’s a chance his immune system could reject the transplant at any time, but Norris says that through all the pain it’s been worth it to walk through a crowd without being the target of ridicule.
