After around two years of construction, the public was invited to stop by LAX’s new Tom Bradley International Terminal to check on its progress.

The work isn’t quite done, but the crews and the debris were cleared out for a few events that were recently held to show off the construction thus far.

Visitors were treated to video shows on the terminal’s elaborate integrated media system and the rededication of the statue of former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley.

They also got a sneak peak of the Antonio R. Villaraigosa Pavilion – named for the current mayor – which will eventually house 60 restaurants and retail stores.

In addition to luxury giants like Gucci and Hermès, shopping in the terminal will include many Los Angeles originals. Among them will be LA favorites Kitson and Fred Segal.

The pavilion’s concessions are also planned to show off some of the city’s best eateries.

Of course, there will also be planes, and gigantic ones at that. Half of the terminal’s 18 gates will accommodate Airbus 380s. That will make LAX the world’s largest double-decker Airbus facility.
