Choking haze in the city-state Singapore lifted with significantly clearer skies on Sunday than previous days.

The pollution index level read 101 at 10 am... a far cry from the record 401 reading two days before.

Tourists enjoyed Singapore's iconic merlion without thick smog to interrupt the view.

Unfortunately for Malaysians, Singapore's smoke filled skies seemed to have blown northward.

High rises in the capital Kuala Lumpur were shrouded in smoke, and residents wore face masks.

And that's not even the worst of it.

Further south in parts of the state of Johor, levels reached a whopping 750. Anything above 100 is considered unhealthy.

The country's environmental minister has declared a state of emergency in those regions.
