A 41-gun royal salute took place in London's Green Park on Monday (June 10) as Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, marked his 92nd birthday in a nearby recovering from surgery.
Prince Philip was admitted to hospital last Thursday (June 6) and underwent abdominal surgery. He had been spotted earlier in the day at a Buckingham Palace Garden party, where guests said he showed no signs of illness.
The 41-gun salute was fired by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery and is common on the occasion of the Duke or Queen's birthday and other significant days.
