Wikipedia has added support for enhanced video and audio capabilities using Kaltura's player technology!
Wikipedia and its sister sites have enabled a new video player (using Kaltura's HTML5 video player) with the promise of bringing free educational videos to everyone on any device in any language.
Uploading videos to wikipedia is fun and easy. When reading an article you may identify a good place to insert a video.
Before uploading the video to Wikipedia it's very important to make sure the video is in public domain or freely licensed. One option is to shoot and edit your own video. The other option is grabbing it from a site the offers public domain video -- like whitehouse.gov.
Wikimedia commons uses a format called WebM to upload our video so we must convert the .mp4 file. We visit firefogg.org and select convert video. Firefogg.org will automatically select the best setting given our input video size.
