Iceland tourists float over the water on an iceberg for a dinner get-together.

Imagine eating dinner on a floating iceberg...sounds nice doesn’t it?

Well for several American tourists visiting East Iceland, it turned out to be rather dangerous.

The four sightseers thought it would be a good idea to set up a table and chairs on top of an ice block. They had planned on eating supper and enjoying the beautiful views, but a strong gust of wind ruined everything.

The ice piece was pulled away from dry land and the diners were stuck floating on the water’s surface about 30 feet away from the shore. Thankfully one member of the group was able to jump to shore before the iceberg drifted too far and that unidentified traveler contacted emergency workers for rescue.

In another remarkable rescue story, earlier this year, a Frenchman named Alain Delord was rescued after spending two days adrift in a life raft.
The 63-year-old has been attempting a round-the-world trip when the mast on his yacht broke in Australia. A distress call was issued but his location didn't allow for a helicopter rescue. However, a cruise liner, 'The Orion' responded, making a 50 hour detour to save him.
